About JMUCC

The John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition (JMUCC) is a week-long event held in Montreal (Quebec), and is organized by eleven students from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. It is our goal to help build and foster long-lasting relationships between today’s brightest minds and the business leaders of tomorrow.

Opportunities

First Year Representative

(Judges Coordinator)

Every year, JMUCC selects one First Year Representative that will act as the Judges Coordinator during the competition. The Judge’s Coordinator is responsible for coordinating more than 150 judges over our competition’s entire week.

 

This role entails reaching out to judges, building the judging schedule, and being the main point of contact before and during the week of the competition for anything judging-related.

 

It is the perfect opportunity to elevate your first year as you organize a world-renowned event, meet delegates from over 13 countries, network with local and international sponsors, and work alongside a small and tight team of ambitious, like-minded students.

Volunteer

If you are looking to make new relationships with students worldwide, including JMSB  students, get involved in a world-renowned case competition, and network with top Canadian and International companies, then volunteering at JMUCC is made for you!

 

Every year, JMUCC recruits more than 40 volunteers in several categories to help the Organizing Committee during the week of JMUCC.

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

VP

Logistics

As VP Logistics you are responsible for all event planning and scheduling. This includes planning nights out, dinners, catering and transportation throughout the week of JMUCC, but most importantly coordinating with the Sheraton and JMSB to ensure that the week runs smoothly.

Skills/Experience Required

- Must be detail-oriented and have great organizational skills.

- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to manage and work on multiple projects at once.
- Must have strong negotiation skills.

As VP Academic Affairs of JMUCC, you are responsible for working with real companies in developing four live cases for the competition, and for updating all documents and conducting training sessions for the judges. You are also responsible for the rules of the competition and for upholding the academic integrity during the week.

Skills/Experience Required

- Candidates must have at least one year of experience with case competitions as a competitor (academic delegate).
- Must be detail-oriented and have great organizational skills.
- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Having a strong network, both personal and professional, is an asset.

VP Academic Affairs

VP Marketing

As VP Marketing of JMUCC, you are responsible for designing all visuals and promotional materials, both physical (program booklets, sponsorship package, banners, foam cores, and apparel) and electronic/online content (information packages, document templates, Facebook banners, promotional and teaser photos) throughout the year, and during the week of the competition. As well, you will collaborate with the VP PR & Sponsorship to develop a marketing plan leading up to the week of the competition.

Skills/Experience Required

- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is an asset.

- Must be proficient in Adobe Suite or Canva.
- Must b
e familiar with various social media platforms.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must be able to manage and work on multiple projects at once.

As VP Public Relations & Branding of JMUCC, you are responsible for managing all of JMUCC’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and more), and, in collaboration with the VP Marketing, developing a marketing/media communications plan to generate interest leading up to the week of the competition. In addition to creating visuals and stories for social media, you will be responsible for assisting the VP Corporate Relations on finding new sponsors for JMUCC 2025.

Skills/Experience Required

- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must have experience with various social media platforms.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Suite or Canva.

- Must have knowledge in digital design.

VP PR & Branding

VP Corporate Relations

As VP Corporate Relations of JMUCC, you are responsible for maintaining current partnerships and developing new relationships with corporate sponsors in the Montreal and Canadian business community. In addition to being given a high monetary sponsorship goal to attain, you will have to ensure that each and every sponsor will be getting the most out of their involvement with the competition, which is an essential element to the reputation and longevity of JMUCC.

Skills/Experience Required

- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must feel comfortable soliciting prospective companies to sponsor the competition.
- Must have strong negotiation skills.

As VP External Affairs of JMUCC, you are responsible for inviting, selecting, and coordinating with the 24 participating universities for the competition.

- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Enjoys meeting people and is comfortable with networking.
- Critical thinking and excellent problem solving skills

VP External Affairs

VP Technology & Innovation

As VP Technology & Innovation of JMUCC, you are responsible for finding and managing new platforms and technologies to foster global interactions. You will be in charge of designing and maintaining the JMUCC website, operating the live streaming of the competition, and coordinating JMUCC TV. You will also be in charge of keeping an inventory and upgrading/procuring all tech equipment and rentals prior to and during the competition. You will work closely with the VP PR & Sponsorship and VP Marketing to develop effective visual and communication strategies.

Skills/Experience Required

- Must be very technology driven and an avid researcher.
- Must be familiar with PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with hardware such as laptops, webcams, & mics.
- Familiarity with Wix and OBS is an asset.
- A BTM background is preferred but not required.

As VP Finance & Development of JMUCC, you are responsible for managing the budget for all the events prior to and during the week of the competition, as well as bookkeeping, approving cheques, and managing internal relations with the university to obtain funding. You also have the responsibility of recruiting volunteers, as well as coordinating with them, before and during the competition. You will be their main point of contact for questions about their roles and responsibilities.

- Must be familiar with Google Sheets
- An accounting or finance background is an asset.
- Must have exceptional leadership skills.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.

VP Finance & Development
